Lauki chana daal curry / Bottle guard chickpeas curry




Ingredients:

  • 1 small lauki / bottle guard(cut into small pieces)
  • ½- cup chana daal / split chickpeas
  • 1-medium size potato(cut into small pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1-cup nutrela (soya chunks)
  • 1-tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1- medium size garlic
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tbs curry powder 
  • 1- tsp coriander powder
  • salt to taste






  • Soak chana dalal and nutrela in hot water for 3-4 hours.
  • Make the paste of onion, garlic and tomato.
  • First fry the nutrela in the pan and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let it crackles, add onion and garlic. cook until the paste starts leaving the pan and oil comes up.
  • Add lauki, chana daal, potato, nutrela and all the dry powder in it and add 1/2 cup of water and pressure cook for 2 minutes. 
  • Now lauki chana daal curry is ready, Serve hot with chapatis.
